IRIS - Industrial Risk and Safety Solutions is a young Austrian company specialised in technical consulting. IRIS  offers services in the areas of process and plant safety as well as emergency and disaster management. Following the principles of “lean management”, IRIS builds on a small permanent and highly qualified team, but bases its work on a broad network of research institutions and experts from around the world.

Dipl.- Ing. Dr. Hannes Kern

Owner and founder of IRIS, Dr. Hannes Kern, studied chemical engineering at the Graz University of Technology, did his PhD at the Montanuniversität Leoben (Austria) in the field of safety technology and was scientifically active in research and lecturing for over 10 years. In addition to establishing a research group for process and plant safety and introducing the postgraduate university course in process and plant safety, emergency and disaster management, Dr. Kern was head of a research laboratory and numerous national and international research projects. Dr. Hannes Kern has been a volunteer firefighter for over 25 years and is an expert and author for the areas of CBRN hazards and industrial firefighting. Together with his team, he is available to answer your questions under the brand IRIS - Industrial Risk and Safety Solutions.

Dipl.- Ing. Dr. Katja Hüttenbrenner, MEng

As an expert for process and plant safety as well as for industrial environmental protection, Dr. Katja Hüttenbrenner is part of the IRIS - Industrial Risk and Safety Solutions team. Dr. Hüttenbrenner studied process engineering in industrial environmental protection at Montanuniversität Leoben and obtained her doctorate in the field of safety technology also in Leoben. In addition, Dr. Hüttenbrenner finished the postgraduate master course for process and plant safety, emergency and disaster management. She is author of numerous specialist publications in the field of process and plant safety and also focusses on the topics of environmental protection and sustainability.
